Reflections on 2010 – My Year in Review

Wow! Can you believe it? Another year has gone by. It’s gone by so fast and so much happened. Here are some of my highlights of 2010.
- oldest daughter turned 17
- went to womens retreat with new church
- husband becomes youth pastor for new church
- rescued 4 baby bunnies that were nested between my hay stacks
- added two milking goats to the homestead
- all 4 bunnies died one by one
- purchased a ton of chickens and 1 turkey
- started my year three garden
- son injured his leg in gymnastics class- ended up having a severe Charlie horse
- joined an equestrian drill team
- performed once with the drill team
- oldest daughter graduated high school
- son graduated eight grade
- decided to start a blog (Healthy Homesteading) but to chicken to publish it
- son bought a ukulele and played it all the time
- saved a mallard duck after it was run over by a car- named him Pete
- two oldest kids went to visit my sister in Georgia for 3 weeks
- let Pete the duck go at local lake
- got a free piano from a friend and kids play it all the time
- oldest daughter won a local singing talent contest – $2500 being the grand prize
- oldest daughter went off to college
- went on a long trail ride at local cattle ranch with my riding buddies
- lost a new friend from the drill team to a heart attack
- sister visited from Georgia
- son started high school and youngest daughter started kindergarten
- visited oldest daughter for my birthday
- went to Hume Lake Christian Camp womens retreat with dear friend
- did the Faith Dare study with my friend
- husband and I went to a one day couples retreat
- purchased a larger milking goat -will pick up in 2011
- youngest daughter turned 6 and we took her to the zoo
- bought youngest daughter two fish for her birthday
- son turned 15 – bought himself a new guitar
- lost 4 of my chickens to raccoon attack
- youngest daughter getting very good at piano
- finally decided to publish blog
- found lots of great blogs and reading material on nutrition
- butchered our first chicken and turkey
- was given a cabinet egg incubator
- lost a relative to leukemia
- cooked the turkey we raised for Christmas dinner
- Thankful God was present through all the highs, lows and in betweens of the year
I am sure I will think of some things that I would have added to the list. It was a good year. There were some sorrows (some very deep) and many joys, but it’s clear that God was present through all of it.

-Redeemed and baptized in March
-harvested first crop of fruit from my trees
-sold my chickens
-son ‘graduated’ from kindergarten
-in-laws battling various cancers
-15 year anniversary
-finally built a deck on the back of the house!
-lost my neighbor ‘Granny’ Magdalene to cancer
-connected with a couple local, like-minded individuals
Over all, a sad, but productive year.

Andrea, sounds like you did have a lot of sadness last year. I am so excited about your decision to follow Christ! Our Father is good and is always with us through hills and the valleys. The closer I grow to Him the more I am overwhelmed by His goodness and love. I hope you find this is true for you as you walk with Him. Thanks for sharing and I am glad you like my blog

I won’t get them all downm but here are a few:
*Son graduated with honors, from college, with a Bachlor’s degree in Computer Science
*Became a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator
*Started my first blog
*Started a Youtube Channel
*Put down my favorite horse
*My youngest daughter and I started leading worship for one of the women’s bible studies
*Became one of the women’s bible study leaders
*Got involved with the High School youth group
*Made 150 treat holders to hand to girls attending “Her Father’s Eyes” conference, to promote Fusion (the high school youth group).
*Headed up decorating team for Joann Frank conference. Had the honor of being the hospitallity person for Joann.
*Directed a group of ladies in making cards to sell at the “Celebrate the Season” boutique at our church, to raise money for a young women battling cancer for the third time. Raised more than anticipated. God is awesome!!!
I hadn’t thought of most of this stuff until I sat down to write this. I guess I got a few things done last year. Still nowhere near what I would have liked.
